Head of Energy and Water, AWS Legal

What you'll do

• Partner with business, technical, and policy leaders on AWS energy and water strategy and infrastructure.
• Manage a global team of transactional and regulatory experts, overseeing complex matters, regulatory proceedings, and renewable energy procurement.
• Advise senior AWS leaders on energy procurement, regulatory and compliance issues, and disputes; support the Climate Pledge goal of net-zero carbon by 2040.

What they ask for

• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
• 3+ years of direct people management, including managing managers or senior individual contributors.
• At least 10 years’ post-qualification legal experience in energy infrastructure projects, including construction, financing, regulatory strategy, and/or procurement.
• Ability to work independently and make decisive legal recommendations to senior leaders in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

• Private practice or in-house experience at a technology company or equivalent.
• Energy regulatory experience; experience with emerging and carbon-free energy sources and technologies; or demonstrated use of AI to scale and simplify legal operations and enable business self-service.

Pay

195,000.00 - 263,800.00 USD annually (base salary)
