Sr Software Development Engineer, Amazon Q

What you'll do

• Design, implement, launch, and operate scalable Amazon Q systems connecting foundation models with customer context, retrieval, APIs, tools, and actions.
• Lead complex technical initiatives, make architecture decisions, and improve AI quality, safety, reliability, performance, and evaluation.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across engineering, product, and applied science teams.

What they ask for

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years programming with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
