Head of Research

What you'll do

• Set the research agenda, design experiments, and bring research results into production systems.
• Develop workflow environments, graders, task mining, evaluation sets, and agent post-training methods.
• Build replay and observability systems; scale training and evaluation runs; establish research culture and develop the research team.

What they ask for

• PhD in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or an equivalent track record of significant research experience.
• Deep experience in reinforcement learning, LLM post-training, evals, agent environments, or closely related areas.
• Experience taking open-ended research problems from hypothesis through experimentation into working systems.
• Ability to turn fuzzy business objectives into reliably evaluable tasks and signals.

Nice to have

• Experience at a leading foundation model lab, top AI research organization, or high-performing AI startup.

Pay

$250K – $400K USD base salary

AI focus

Research and build replayable enterprise environments, agent evaluation and grading methods, and post-training approaches to improve agent performance while reducing inference cost.
