Staff Software Engineer (Query Infrastructure)

What you'll do

• Build and evolve query execution, columnar storage, distributed compute, and elastic query infrastructure.
• Lead major technical initiatives from proposal through production; set technical direction and resolve cross-team trade-offs.
• Improve production reliability through on-call, incident investigation, architectural changes, and mentoring via design reviews and debugging.

What they ask for

• 8+ years of industry experience in backend or infrastructure engineering, with depth in distributed data systems.
• Hands-on experience building or extending analytical or OLAP systems, large-scale data processing, or streaming frameworks.
• Track record leading multi-month, cross-team technical projects through production, including significant cloud cost or performance wins.
• Strong distributed-systems and computer-science fundamentals; demonstrated technical influence and proficiency in Java, C++ or Python.

Nice to have

• Experience with Druid, ClickHouse, Presto/Trino, Spark, BigQuery or Snowflake; SQL planning and optimization.
• Familiarity with Iceberg, Parquet, Arrow, ORC, warehouse-native architectures, product analytics, experimentation, or serving data to LLM and agent workloads.
