About the job

Build and operate the Distributed Service Bus that routes messages between autonomous systems over unreliable, bandwidth-constrained networks.

What you'll do

  • Design messaging delivery guarantees, mesh routing, gossip dissemination, and bandwidth-efficient QoS.
  • Build gRPC proxy, secure transport, and deterministic simulation tests; debug deployed systems.
  • Write protocol RFCs and support rollout of DSB to new platforms and migration from the legacy message bus.

What they ask for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on distributed systems.
  • Production experience building or operating messaging systems, RPC frameworks, databases, or other distributed infrastructure; depth in Rust, C, C++, or Go.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/UDP, sockets, MTU, TLS/mTLS; familiarity with async programming and Protocol Buffers and/or gRPC; must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Production Rust; experience with gossip protocols, routing, deterministic simulation, fault injection, or property-based testing.
  • Experience in resource-constrained or intermittently connected environments; packet debugging with tcpdump or Wireshark; Kubernetes familiarity.
