What you'll do

  • Define thermal environments, budgets, requirements, architectures, and hardware selections for space vehicles or payloads.
  • Perform thermal analysis using first-principles calculations and models, including support for electronics and PCBA thermal management.
  • Plan and execute thermal vacuum, balance, and cycle testing; develop tools and correlate test data with models.

What they ask for

  • BS, MS, or higher degree in engineering, applied physics, or hard science.
  • Demonstrated heat-transfer knowledge and ability to use first-order calculations to guide thermal architectures and verify higher-fidelity models.
  • Proficiency in Thermal Desktop or equivalent thermal simulation tool; thermal experience with spacecraft components.
  • Hands-on hardware prototyping and thermal testing experience; CAD, instrumentation, data post-processing, and model-correlation experience.

Nice to have

  • Siemens NX; design or test experience on a space platform.
  • Experience with Python or MATLAB, FloCAD, and SINDA/FLUINT; ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
