About the job

Develop, tune, and ship machine-learning and DSP speech enhancement algorithms for voice processing across Apple devices and products.

What you'll do

  • Take speech enhancement algorithms from prototyping through on-device testing and production.
  • Build and extend data preprocessing, simulation, and cloud training pipelines; evaluate and debug algorithm performance.
  • Improve voice quality and intelligibility in challenging conditions and collaborate with audio, hardware, and software teams.

What they ask for

  • MS with 3+ years of relevant experience, or PhD, in Acoustics, Audio, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience shipping audio or speech enhancement ML algorithms from prototype to production; experience with causal streaming models under real-time constraints.
  • Proficiency with PyTorch and Python, including version control, testing, and reproducible experiments; working knowledge of Max/MSP.
  • Solid acoustics and signal processing fundamentals, plus experience with large-scale data and cloud training pipelines and speech quality evaluation.

Nice to have

  • Audio DSP experience, including echo handling, microphone array processing, beam-forming, dynamics processing, EQ, or noise suppression; experience with hybrid signal-processing and ML systems.
  • Familiarity with telephony voice quality requirements, speech recognition front ends, multi-modal ML, C/C++, MATLAB, or transducers.
