About the job

Develop and validate finite element and multiphysics simulations to guide the design, qualification, and manufacturing of battery systems for Apple products.

What you'll do

  • Build and calibrate battery models, validate predictions against experimental data, and use simulation results to inform design and qualification decisions.
  • Develop coupled structural, mechanical, thermal, and electrochemical models, and automate workflows for design exploration and optimization.
  • Design test methods and instrumentation for material characterization and model validation; scale simulation support across product programs.

What they ask for

  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Applied Mechanics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or similar.
  • Experience with commercial finite element analysis software such as Abaqus.
  • Experience with advanced simulation techniques, including nonlinear constitutive modeling and modeling high-speed events and large deformations.
  • Experience programming in Python and building, debugging, and calibrating finite element models.

Nice to have

  • PhD and 3+ years relevant industry experience; experience with coupled thermal-mechanical or electrochemical-mechanical modeling.
  • Experience with LS-DYNA, ANSYS, or COMSOL; exposure to physics-based machine learning for surrogate modeling or model order reduction.

Pay

$150,400 and $225,300 (base salary range)
