About the job

Develop and implement capture-side video tone mapping algorithms that shape image quality and the creative look of Apple camera footage, from prototyping through on-device validation.

What you'll do

  • Prototype tone mapping algorithms in Matlab or Python and implement, test, and refine them in Apple products.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams on image-processing blocks and meet image-quality and execution-time targets.
  • Develop feature proposals and influence camera rendering across products and capture and playback modalities.

What they ask for

  • MS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Track record developing image-processing algorithms, such as auto white balance, tone mapping, auto exposure, or high dynamic range capture.
  • Validated coding skills in Python or MATLAB.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with camera image-processing pipelines and the Image Signal Processor (ISP); knowledge of HDR encoding standards.
  • Experience with professional video postproduction and color grading; C/C++ skills, machine-learning exposure, or knowledge of vision or color science.

Pay

$184,700 and $324,800 USD base salary; $175,000 and $308,500 USD base salary
