Principal System Integration and Test Lead
$200K–$230K
Boulder, CO · On-site · Principal · Full-time · Posted Oct 2, 2026
- Experience
- 10+ years in experimental AMO physics, quantum hardware, or precision laser-system integration; 3+ years providing technical leadership on multidisciplinary teams.
- Education
- PhD in physics, applied physics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline, or comparable professional experience.
About the job
Leads whole-system integration and readiness of neutral-atom quantum computers, from assembled subsystems through handoff for atom-based testing.
What you'll do
- Own integration across optics, laser delivery, vacuum interfaces, RF controls, timing, and instrument software; define readiness and handoff criteria.
- Establish repeatable integration, alignment, diagnostics, and recovery procedures, and perform or guide system-level checkout and safety checks.
- Lead troubleshooting, mentor integration staff, and partner with Quantum Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve issues and improve repeat-build cycle time.
What they ask for
- Strong understanding of neutral-atom quantum computers, including atom trapping, optical addressing, coherent control, and readout.
- Hands-on capability in optical alignment, laser stability diagnostics, vacuum interfaces, and synchronized RF and control systems.
- Practical AMO knowledge sufficient to resolve integration issues with experimental physicists; ability to interpret diagnostic data and isolate hardware or software-interface faults.
- Capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Nice to have
- Laboratory automation experience.
