About the job
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern improves production processes for custom computer builds and retrofit kits at Atoms’ San Francisco facility.
What you'll do
- Analyze production times, line balance, cycle times, and manufacturing metrics to identify bottlenecks and prioritize improvements.
- Design and fabricate production tooling, jigs, and fixtures; help optimize station layouts and material flows.
- Collaborate with technicians and Hardware Engineering to implement improvements and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions.

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic proficiency with 3D CAD software.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and interest in Lean principles.
- Comfort working on the shop floor and strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Prior hands-on manufacturing, robotics, automotive, or hardware internship or project experience.
- Experience with time-and-motion studies or assembly instructions; participation in a hardware student team.
