Education
Background in Chemistry or Battery Physics or a related field; PhD in physics modeling or battery chemistry preferred.

About the job

Build battery degradation datasets, models, and tools using fleet telemetry and cell-testing data to predict battery aging and inform fleet operations.

What you'll do

  • Build and validate semi-empirical degradation models for calendar and cycle aging, capacity fade, and resistance growth; compare predictions with real-world behavior.
  • Help establish the cell characterization lab, including test plans, equipment selection, and reliable aging-data processes.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and production-quality modeling tools, and communicate model changes and insights across teams.

What they ask for

  • Background in Chemistry, Battery Physics, or a related field such as electrochemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with battery modeling, ideally semi-empirical or physics-informed degradation models for lithium-ion cells.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with cell testing and characterization (cycling, HPPC, EIS, or similar).

Nice to have

  • PhD in physics modeling or battery chemistry.
  • Experience with field or fleet data from deployed energy storage, EVs, or consumer electronics.

Tools

Python, SQL, HPPC, EIS
