Boston · On-site · Senior · Full-time · Posted Oct 6, 2026
- Experience
- 1–2 years of relevant experience for Scientist; 3+ years for Senior Scientist. An MSc with equivalent hands-on laboratory experience will also be considered.
- Education
- PhD in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field; an MSc with equivalent hands-on laboratory experience will also be considered.
About the job
Develops targeted lipid nanoparticles (tLNPs) for extrahepatic delivery of genetic medicines, from formulation and characterization through in vitro and in vivo evaluation.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize tLNP formulations, direct lipid synthesis through CROs, and perform surface bioconjugation and physicochemical characterization.
- Develop cellular assays and collaborate on in vivo biodistribution and pharmacokinetic studies to assess tLNP performance.
- Document and present results, and work with cross-functional teams to inform AI-guided design of targeting ligands and payloads.
What they ask for
- PhD in a relevant field with the specified experience, or an MSc with equivalent hands-on laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience assembling LNPs and conjugating targeting moieties to nanoparticles.
- Experience engineering nanoparticle biodistribution or tropism through changes to lipid composition, ratios, or structure.
- Hands-on experience with targeted LNPs or LNPs and biomaterial conjugation, plus LNP analytical techniques.
Nice to have
- Experience with automated or high-throughput formulation screening, DoE software such as JMP, LNP scale-up, or peptide targeting and conjugation.
- Interest or experience collaborating with computational/ML teams on AI-guided formulation or targeting-ligand design.
