Education
Actively pursuing a PhD (preferred) or a research-heavy Master’s in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.

About the job

Conduct research to scale Vision-Language-Action models for Atlas, from data and training experiments through simulation and hardware deployment.

What you'll do

  • Lead a research project establishing hypotheses and experiments for VLA/WAM performance, benchmarking, training, and evaluation.
  • Prototype and deploy data strategies, training recipes, and algorithms on Atlas, progressing from simulation to hardware.
  • Integrate learned policies with low-level robot control, extend data pipelines, and write production-grade Python/C++ code.

What they ask for

  • Actively pursuing a PhD or research-heavy Master’s in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Expertise in training and deploying imitation learning models (VLAs/WAMs) for robotics.
  • Strong experimental hygiene and knowledge of the state of the art.

Nice to have

  • Machine learning best practices, architectures, and scaling laws; experience deploying algorithms on physical robots.
  • Experience with large-scale datasets or specialized data collection, cluster training, and maintaining high-quality codebases.

Pay

$30-$70/ hour (base pay)

Tools

Python, C++, Kubernetes, SLURM, distributed GPU training

AI focus

Research and scale Vision-Language-Action models for robotic perception, reasoning, and action; develop data, training, evaluation, and deployment approaches for dexterous tasks on Atlas. Use AI coding agents to accelerate software development.
