Optical Hardware Product Engineer

What you'll do

• Collaborate with engineering teams on design for manufacturability and PFMEA, and partner with quality on testing and qualification.
• Develop manufacturing and test solutions, improve pilot-build yield, and transition optical designs into high-volume production.
• Drive product and equipment characterization, yield improvement, manufacturing readiness, and continuous-improvement metrics.

What they ask for

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 8+ years of industry experience in product engineering or product development for high-volume production, focused on silicon photonics, optical transceivers, or opto-electronic packaging sub-assemblies.
• Track record transitioning products from NPI to high-volume production through a contract manufacturer and/or OSAT partner.
• Experience with optical-electrical testing, failure analysis, PFMEA, yield prediction, monitoring, and improvement; proficiency with statistical and analytical tools such as Python, JMP Scripting, and AI models.

Nice to have

• Experience with active optical alignment, die attach, wire bonding, wafer packaging, or chip-packaging assembly process development.
• Experience with Bill of Materials and Change Management, optics, or silicon photonics sub-assemblies.

Pay

$136,500.00 to $198,500.00 USD (starting salary range; base salary); $154,900.00 - $259,100.00 USD (full salary range; base salary, New York City Metro Area); $136,500.00 - $228,300.00 USD (full salary range; base salary, non-Metro New York state & Washington state).
