- PhD in biological sciences, stem cell or germ cell biology, or related field.
About the job
Develop and optimize culture media and assays for primordial germ cells (PGCs) from non-model avian species, supporting conservation breeding and genetic rescue.
What you'll do
- Culture, derive, sort, screen, and expand avian PGCs; collect embryo blood and tissue for cell line derivation.
- Interpret scRNA-seq and rt-qPCR data to develop species-specific media formulations and assess PGC function.
- Collaborate on embryo injection protocols, deliver project milestones, and document and report progress.
What they ask for
- Expert knowledge of cell culture, primary cell derivation, and propagation; experience optimizing culture media.
- Experience staging and manipulating avian embryos, including injection into early-stage embryos.
- Experience in molecular biology, rt-qPCR, and flow cytometry.
- Track record of collaborating with computational partners to interpret scRNA-seq data.
Nice to have
- Experience deriving or culturing avian PGCs.
- Experience optimizing media for challenging cell types.
Tools
scRNA-seq, rt-qPCR, qPCR, flow cytometry
