About the job

Develops computational models and simulation workflows to predict materials performance in extreme fusion environments and guide experiments, engineering design, and materials development.

What you'll do

  • Build and use modeling tools to predict material properties, quantify uncertainty, and identify influential chemical and microstructural features.
  • Guide experimental design and develop methods for engineering material design curves and property variability assessment.
  • Collaborate on materials data workflows and support materials specifications.

What they ask for

  • 10+ years of experience in experimental or computational materials science.
  • Experience with computational materials science and ICME tools, including implementation or authorship of codes for materials properties and microstructure analysis.
  • Experience developing predictive models for materials properties or microstructure evolution in extreme environments and validating models against experimental data or physical bounds.
  • Relevant degree or background in Materials Science and Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Physical Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice to have

  • Experience presenting complex quantitative data clearly.
  • Experience making decisions in fast-paced engineering settings.
