About the job
Performs production welding on structural steel components, following blueprints and welding specifications to produce quality structures safely and efficiently.
What you'll do
- Positions, aligns, and welds steel parts using welding equipment, tools, and cranes or hoists as needed.
- Inspects welds and workpieces against specifications, including visual and ultrasonic inspection, and repairs welds as needed.
- Reads blueprints and welding symbols, prepares joints, and operates and maintains welding equipment.
What they ask for
- Ability to interpret blueprints and read a tape measure.
- Welding certification or prior welding experience and successful completion of DIS-TRAN Steel’s Welder II test.
- Ability to produce complete joint penetration welds meeting visual and ultrasonic inspection requirements under AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code.
- GMAW experience; ability to read welding symbols, prepare joints, use weld gauges, and set, maintain, and troubleshoot welding equipment.
Nice to have
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery, such as cranes.
