About the job
Designs and delivers hands-on technical training to build safe, skilled residential garage door technicians, from onboarding through competency development, with possible expansion into select commercial applications.
What you'll do
- Develop curricula, competency standards, job aids, and safety-focused training materials for technicians.
- Deliver hands-on courses, onboarding, field coaching, and ride-alongs; assess and document technician readiness.
- Partner with branch leaders and Safety, Operations, and Employee Relations to improve training consistency, quality, and safety.
What they ask for
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, or repairing residential garage doors and openers, or a closely related skilled trade.
- Ability to teach adults in a shop, field, or vocational setting.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to travel overnight to branches.
- Ability to lift up to 75–100 pounds, work from ladders and lifts, and demonstrate job tasks.
Nice to have
- Direct garage door experience is strongly preferred; commercial door or dock experience is a plus.
- Formal trainer experience is preferred; lead-technician or foreman coaching experience will be considered.
