Complete a partially fit-up steel rod-handling frame and perform other production welding for an automated drilling rig build at Durin’s El Segundo shop.
What you'll do
- Perform production MIG (GMAW) and/or flux-core (FCAW) welding on steel structures and frames, including finishing welds in tight-access areas.
- Fit up, tack, grind, clean, and repair welds; read fabrication drawings and weld symbols, manage distortion, and maintain alignment within tolerance.
- Follow shop safety practices and coordinate with engineering and assembly teams on the build schedule.
What they ask for
- Several years of hands-on structural or production steel welding, with GMAW (MIG) as the main process.
- Comfortable welding in every position on heavy plate and structural steel; able to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
- Experience with fit-up, grinding, and related shop tools; able to handle physical work, including moving and lifting heavy parts.
- Available full-time on-site in El Segundo for the full contract and willing to bring personal welding equipment and PPE.
Nice to have
- AWS or other current welding certification; FCAW experience in addition to MIG.
- Experience with heavy equipment or industrial machinery weldments, or work inspected by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
