Staff Robotics Systems Integration Engineer
Redwood City, CA · On-site · Staff · Full-time · Posted Aug 7, 2026
- Experience
- 7+ years in robotics, mechatronics, hardware test, or reliability engineering; significant time on fielded hardware rather than lab prototypes.
About the job
Own the hardware reliability and systems integration of a humanoid robot fleet, from failure analysis and repair to qualification standards, fleet health systems, and hardware strategy.
What you'll do
- Set reliability and integration priorities using fleet data and customer impact; influence hardware decisions across mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams.
- Establish hardware qualification, validation, and release practices; investigate complex failures and perform hands-on testing, rework, and repair.
- Build fleet health metrics, alerting, calibration tools, and telemetry pipelines; review engineering changes and document operating procedures.
What they ask for
- 7+ years in robotics, mechatronics, hardware test, or reliability engineering, including significant work on fielded hardware.
- Track record of setting technical direction, making hardware tradeoffs, and influencing partner teams without formal authority.
- Hands-on ability to troubleshoot, repair, and recommission electromechanical assemblies; deep familiarity with mechanical actuator failures.
- Working knowledge of robot control, quasi-direct-drive actuators, encoders, torque and current telemetry, CAN, calibration, Python data analysis, and PR-based workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience with teleoperation systems, VR interfaces, or data-collection fleets.
- Hardware qualification or manufacturing and incoming test experience; MuJoCo simulation sanity-checking.
