About the job
Improve Elasticsearch performance and predictability by developing optimizations, performance models, benchmarks, and AI-assisted profiling and optimization workflows.
What you'll do
- Develop and deliver architectural and code-level performance improvements, including foundational performance models for distributed systems.
- Profile and analyze Elasticsearch bottlenecks and maintain benchmarks and regression detection across stateful and Serverless architectures.
- Build AI-assisted optimization automation and provide technical guidance and peer reviews.
What they ask for
- Deep knowledge of Java internals, JVM memory management, and concurrency; ability to write high-performance, thread-safe, lock-free code.
- Proven experience profiling and optimizing distributed systems, using benchmarking tools, detecting regressions, and implementing optimizations.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture, including partition tolerance, cluster state propagation, and scaling challenges.
- Proven track record using AI or advanced tooling to accelerate optimization, debug performance issues, and automate benchmarking workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating high-performance native libraries such as C++, Rust, or SIMD-accelerated code into Java applications.
- Knowledge of storage engine performance, index modes, vector search optimization, performance SLAs, or large-scale data store/search engine internals.
