About the job

Build and lead Exa’s developer relations function, growing developer awareness, community, integrations, advocacy, and product feedback for its AI search API.

What you'll do

  • Lead developer community and evangelism through events, hackathons, talks, open-source presence, and public engagement.
  • Drive technical integrations with developer frameworks, tools, and platforms from initial discussions through launch and ongoing maintenance.
  • Build and coach the DevRel team; create demos and education materials, develop developer advocates, and relay product friction to Product and Engineering.

What they ask for

  • 6+ years across developer relations, developer marketing, or engineering with a substantial public presence, including time at a company selling an API or developer platform.
  • Demonstrated developer communication skills, such as talks, workshops, streams, or writing, and a live demo.
  • Engineering credibility with the AI stack, including building with LLMs, agents, and retrieval.
  • Experience building an early-stage community, shipping and maintaining ecosystem integrations, and hiring or mentoring DevRel talent.

Nice to have

  • Open-source maintainer experience or meaningful contributions developers would recognize.
  • Experience at a company that grew primarily through developer adoption, in the AI and agent developer community, or running hackathons or developer conferences at scale; professional software engineering experience is also a plus.
