About the job

Leads the team and software architecture for real-time firmware and Linux control software used in fab2’s deposition and etching equipment, from prototyping through production.

What you'll do

  • Own firmware architecture and roadmap, and design and implement real-time control algorithms for semiconductor equipment.
  • Write and review production firmware; lead failure analysis and develop interlocks, watchdogs, and firmware validation infrastructure.
  • Partner with hardware, vacuum, and manufacturing teams; hire and mentor engineers and uphold code and testing standards.

What they ask for

  • 7+ years developing microcontroller firmware for electromechanical devices in shipped products, and 2+ years leading or managing firmware engineers.
  • Deep real-time controls background; proficiency in C for embedded targets and Python for tooling and analysis.
  • Experience with a real-time operating system, standard MCU interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN), and electronics such as schematics and board bring-up.
  • FMEA experience for electromechanical devices and demonstrated collaboration with hardware and manufacturing teams.

Nice to have

  • Background in semiconductor equipment, vacuum systems, gas handling, or scientific instrumentation; related control firmware experience.
  • Experience with functional or equipment safety practices, hardware-in-the-loop testing, continuous integration, Rust on embedded targets, or taking a product from prototype through production.

Tools

C, Rust, Python, Linux, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN
