What you'll do
- Design and iterate on precision machines, stages, frames, mounts, fixtures, and inspection tooling.
- Lead mechanical integration and alignment, coordinating with electrical, controls, and optics engineers.
- Prototype and characterize designs; develop tolerance analyses and error budgets, and select and integrate precision components.
What they ask for
- Deep experience designing and building precision mechanical systems to accuracy and repeatability targets.
- Working fluency in precision machine design fundamentals, including exact-constraint design, kinematic couplings, flexures, error budgeting, structural loops, and tolerance analysis.
- Hands-on prototyping, fabrication, assembly, and alignment experience.
- Experience selecting and integrating precision components and using dimensional metrology.
Nice to have
- Formal training in precision engineering.
- Experience at an early-stage startup, familiarity with firmware, controls, or electrical engineering, or opto-mechanical design and alignment experience.
