Senior Software Engineer, Metadata

What you'll do

• Build, test, and optimize backend services and data models; troubleshoot production issues and follow up with post-mortems and mitigation plans.
• Write and review technical designs and code, plan feature work, and collaborate with product, QE, support, and engineering peers.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development and create or review SDLC artifacts; participate periodically in on-call rotation.

What they ask for

• 5+ years of software-industry experience, including designing and building backend services and reusable components.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing; hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and Docker or Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#; demonstrated ability to write performant, well-tested code.
• Ability to independently lead feature-level software and design work, explain trade-offs, and experience with code reviews, troubleshooting, and testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with ETL/ELT or cloud-based data platforms; metadata, catalog, lineage, or discovery/search systems; GraphQL and high-throughput multi-tenant services; or the dbt ecosystem.
• Experience with BuildKite; familiarity with Datadog or Grafana.

Pay

$174,915 — $209,906 USD (target new-hire compensation; may include sales incentives or target bonuses depending on role)
