Leads the power conversion and commissioning standard for grid-scale storage and solar systems across Fluidstack’s gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure sites.
What you'll do
- Set PCS and inverter topology, specifications, and conversion interfaces; qualify vendors and enforce requirements through testing and warranty.
- Define converter control requirements for firm load, grid-forming and grid-following operation, ride-through, step-load response, and reactive capability.
- Lead field commissioning and diagnose fleet issues, incorporating fixes into the standard design.
What they ask for
- 10+ years of experience in power conversion for grid-scale storage or solar, including PCS and inverter specification, vendor qualification, and field commissioning.
- Experience taking grid-scale power conversion from specification through energization and dispatch, and writing and enforcing vendor specifications.
- Experience debugging field converter behavior using scope traces, power quality captures, and event records, and validating grid-forming operation on an islanded plant.
- Comfort with regular travel of 25% or more, depending on business needs.
Nice to have
- Grid-forming control and EMT validation; converter hardware design; BESS and inverter certification; behind-the-meter and islanded microgrid operation; Professional Engineer licence.
- Austin, TX location is preferred; hybrid work model.
