About the job
Leads the embedded software team delivering and maintaining firmware and a shared platform for Formlabs’ current and future 3D printers.
What you'll do
- Own firmware delivery, quality, and release decisions for current and upcoming printers.
- Set direction for the shared embedded platform while remaining hands-on with architecture, code, and hardware debugging.
- Hire and manage engineers, and partner across teams to bring products from board bring-up through production and diagnose field failures.
What they ask for
- Production firmware experience in C and C++ for complex electromechanical products.
- Experience leading an embedded or firmware engineering team, including hiring and performance management.
- Experience taking multiple products from prototype to volume production and supporting them after launch.
- Comfort across bare-metal microcontrollers and embedded Linux, plus board bring-up, peripheral debugging, and Python tooling and testing.
Nice to have
- Linux kernel or device-driver experience; firmware for motion control, lasers or optics, or thermal systems.
- OTA updates and device security, large connected-device fleets, MISRA C or other safety-critical standards, 3D printing, or electronics or robotics background.
Pay
$170,000 — $250,000 USD (base salary)
