About the job

Design, simulate, integrate, and commission large-scale oil and deionized-water systems for Fuse’s Z-Star pulsed-power accelerator.

What you'll do

  • Design fluid circuits, including pumps, piping, filtration, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
  • Model fluid flow and thermal performance; develop fluid-quality and water-conditioning protocols.
  • Prepare system documentation and support fabrication, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site.

What they ask for

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Applied Physics with a strong fluid-mechanics concentration.
  • Experience with CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, OpenFOAM, or COMSOL Multiphysics.
  • 2+ years designing or operating large-scale industrial fluid systems, including pumps, filters, heat exchangers, and piping networks, in energy, nuclear, defense, or high-voltage environments.
  • Familiarity with transformer oil or similar dielectric insulating fluids and strong command of convective and forced-flow heat transfer.

Nice to have

  • Experience with deionized-water systems, ion-exchange resin beds, degassing, and resistivity monitoring.
  • Knowledge of pulsed power, particle accelerators, fusion energy, or high-energy-density physics facilities; ASME piping codes and safety regulations; or Python.
