About the job

Supports the design validation, testing, and characterization of magnetic components for high-power converter systems, comparing laboratory results with analytical and simulation models.

What you'll do

  • Test magnetic components for performance characteristics such as inductance, loss, saturation, thermal behavior, and insulation integrity.
  • Measure and analyze converter waveforms and magnetic behavior using laboratory equipment, modeling, and simulation.
  • Build or modify prototype components and test fixtures, document results, and support magnetics integration with engineering teams.

What they ask for

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in power electronics, including switching converter operation, and understanding of electromagnetic and magnetic component fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with inductors, transformers, and magnetic materials; hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, or similar equipment.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PLECS, or equivalent; analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work hands-on with hardware.

Nice to have

  • Experience testing or characterizing magnetic components; familiarity with planar or PCB-integrated magnetics.
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM, or COMSOL; familiarity with EMI/EMC, medium-voltage design, or MATLAB or Python for data analysis.

Tools

LTspice, PLECS, ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM, COMSOL, MATLAB, Python, SiC
