About the job

Own grid interconnection for Heron Power’s grid-forming inverters and solid-state transformers, from model development and interconnection approval through commissioning and field-performance review.

What you'll do

  • Develop, validate, and document inverter and plant models across RMS and EMT platforms; benchmark against other models and hardware-in-the-loop.
  • Support project interconnection studies and guide developers through model submissions, study reviews, and approval processes.
  • Define plant controller settings and lead commissioning and model-validation testing, including field-data analysis and post-energization reviews.

What they ask for

  • 5+ years of power systems engineering focused on IBR interconnection at an inverter OEM, developer, utility, ISO/RTO, or consulting firm.
  • Track record of taking IBR projects from model development through interconnection approval and commissioning.
  • Hands-on proficiency in PSCAD and at least two of PSS/E, PSLF, PowerFactory, and TSAT, including building, tuning, and debugging user-defined models.
  • Working knowledge of IEEE 2800, NERC PRC and MOD standards, FERC and ISO/RTO interconnection processes, and inverter control fundamentals.

Nice to have

  • Experience with grid-forming inverter models and requirements, such as VSM or droop-based controls.
  • Real-code EMT model development, or experience with utility-scale BESS or PV plants, PPC tuning, and grid-code compliance testing.
