Senior Engineering Manager

What you'll do

• Manage hiring, feedback, performance, promotions, and necessary exits while helping engineers grow in scoping, estimation, decision-making, and ownership.
• Shape roadmaps and commitments, and improve planning, delivery reliability, team workflows, and responses to escalations.
• Stay hands-on with code and architecture, using coding agents in real work and helping engineers apply AI tooling effectively.

What they ask for

• At least a couple of years managing engineers, including hiring, developing people, addressing underperformance, and making difficult people decisions.
• Prior experience as a strong engineer, with sound technical judgment and the ability to reason about architecture and tradeoffs.
• Still builds software, uses coding agents seriously, and can explain effective use with examples.
• Has shipped at a startup and can balance product work with customer deadlines and realistic commitments.

Nice to have

• Experience with ML tooling, data platforms, or evaluation systems; experience managing a distributed team.
• Frontend architecture depth.

The role supports AI data and evaluation products, including agent-trajectory ingestion and replay, hybrid human-plus-model-judge workflows, and continuous calibration of automated evaluators. It also uses coding agents in engineering work and improves how the team applies AI tooling.
