About the job

Own the selection, characterization, placement, commissioning, and validation of sensors on autonomous trucks, working with autonomy, software, and hardware teams to ensure sensor performance meets measurable needs.

What you'll do

  • Define and validate sensor requirements, coverage, placement, and performance for vehicle and autonomy needs.
  • Commission sensors and develop test setups, automation, procedures, and analysis for bench and on-vehicle testing.
  • Lead root cause analysis of sensor issues and coordinate sensor-related design improvements across teams.

What they ask for

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field, and 3 or more years of hands-on sensor and engineering experience.
  • Experience with test automation, scripting, data analysis, and field of view and coverage analysis, including geometric modeling of sensor placement on a vehicle or robot.
  • Experience with at least two of camera, lidar, radar, or INS/GNSS; strong grasp of relevant sensor physics.
  • Fluent in Python; experience writing executable test reports and procedures and collaborating cross-functionally.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in an AV, robotaxi, autonomous trucking, or ADAS program; commissioning sensor suites across vehicle builds or program phases.
  • Heavy-duty truck or large articulated platform experience; knowledge of GMSL, Automotive Ethernet, CAN/CAN FD, and PTP, sensor simulation, or functional safety and SOTIF.

Tools

Python, GMSL, Automotive Ethernet, CAN/CAN FD, PTP, camera, lidar, radar

AI focus

The role involves autonomous-vehicle vision-based AI. AI tools may be used in hiring to compare applicant qualifications with the job description; a human reviews outputs and makes the final hiring decision.
