About the job

Designs, integrates, and validates electromechanical systems and motion-control hardware and software for ICON’s large-scale robotic systems.

What you'll do

  • Configure, tune, and commission servo drives, motors, encoders, and motion hardware in an EtherCAT-based control architecture.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software for motion control, I/O management, and hardware interfacing; support electrical hardware design and subsystem testing.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, contribute actuator models to simulations, and provide on-call field support on a rotating schedule.

What they ask for

  • B.S. in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience commissioning servo drives, encoders, and motion hardware in multi-axis robotics or industrial automation.
  • Working knowledge of EtherCAT or a comparable industrial fieldbus protocol; practical C or C++ embedded or real-time programming experience.
  • Ability to read and produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; experience with hardware/software integration and structured validation testing.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with the Beckhoff/EtherCAT ecosystem, such as TwinCAT or acontis EtherCAT master.
  • Experience with robotic arm kinematics, real-time or embedded Linux environments, functional safety, HIL or simulation, or sensor integration.

Tools
