About the job
Leads research and development of neutral-atom quantum computing systems, from experimental design and subsystem integration through calibration, operation, and performance improvement.
What you'll do
- Lead R&D projects for quantum processor hardware, gate protocols, lasers and optics, calibration, control, or system integration.
- Design and analyze experiments and physics-based models; independently develop, validate, troubleshoot, and operate critical systems.
- Build Python tools for experiment control, data analysis, calibration, automation, and hardware integration; collaborate across teams and mentor junior colleagues.
What they ask for
- PhD in atomic, optical, AMO, quantum physics, or a related field plus at least two years of relevant post-PhD experience, or comparable professional experience developing complex experimental systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating complex AMO, quantum-control, or precision-measurement experiments.
- Experience applying quantitative atomic or optical physics models and hands-on experience with lasers and optical systems and related technologies.
- Experience using Python and evidence of independently leading a substantial experimental project or owning a critical technical subsystem.
Nice to have
- Experience with neutral-atom quantum computing, Rydberg physics, optical-tweezer arrays, or quantum-gate characterization.
- Experience with advanced laser and optical systems, noise mitigation, analog electronics, RF, feedback control, or automated calibration infrastructure.
