About the job
Develops and operates neutral-atom quantum computing systems, leading experimental R&D and improving quantum hardware and subsystems.
What you'll do
- Design, integrate, calibrate, operate, and improve quantum computing systems and subsystems; lead R&D projects in hardware, protocols, optics, calibration, control, or integration.
- Plan and analyze experiments and physics-based models, translating program goals into requirements and measurable performance targets.
- Build Python-based tools for experiment control, analysis, calibration, automation, and hardware integration; collaborate across teams and mentor junior staff.
What they ask for
- PhD in atomic, optical, AMO, quantum physics, or a related field plus at least two years of relevant post-PhD experience, or comparable professional experience developing complex experimental systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating complex AMO, quantum-control, or precision-measurement experiments.
- Experience applying quantitative atomic or optical physics models to experimental design or system specification, and hands-on experience with lasers and optical systems and related technologies.
- Experience using Python and evidence of independently leading a substantial experimental project or owning a critical technical subsystem.
Nice to have
- Experience with neutral-atom quantum computing, Rydberg physics, optical-tweezer arrays, or quantum-gate characterization.
- Experience with advanced laser/optical systems, noise mitigation, analog electronics, RF systems, feedback control, subsystem integration, or automated experimental infrastructure.
