About the job

Develops and validates protocols and software for running universal fault-tolerant quantum computation on quantum hardware.

What you'll do

  • Develop, numerically investigate, and optimize fault-tolerant computation protocols and circuit gadgets.
  • Implement and experimentally validate protocols on quantum hardware, and document results in scientific papers.
  • Maintain a codebase that enables colleagues to run quantum algorithms fault-tolerantly.

What they ask for

  • Ph.D. in computer science, physics, math, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Competency in qubit-based stabilizer quantum error correction fundamentals.
  • Experience with analytical and numerical circuit-level investigation of QEC and FTQC.
  • Experience building quantum circuits in Cirq, Qiskit, Pytket, or another major framework; fluency in at least one of Python, Julia, C++, or Rust.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing protocols for universal FTQC, including fault-tolerant gadgets.
  • Knowledge of magic-state protocols, code surgery, dynamical codes, ZX calculus, or fault-tolerant quantum compilation.
