Forward Deployed Engineering Manager

What you'll do

• Hire, coach, manage performance, and develop FDE careers; own staffing, capacity, utilization, and deployment.
• Set technical standards for scoping, data pipelines, measurement, instructions, and quality evaluation, while protecting FDEs’ focus on higher-level work.
• Build onboarding, templates, tooling, and playbooks; partner with delivery and research leaders and step in on escalations.

What they ask for

• Strong forward-deployed/FDE background or significant experience managing technical or delivery people, with readiness to be a hands-on player-coach.
• Technical fluency in frontier-data work, RL environments, data pipelines, and quality/evaluation.
• Strong judgment translating ambiguous customer requirements into plans and assessing whether data will improve a model.
• Track record of developing people and giving direct, useful feedback.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with RLHF, reinforcement-learning environments, evaluation/benchmark work, or LLM-as-judge systems.
• Experience with forward-deployed, solutions, or implementation teams; onboarding or training systems; or scaling teams and processes.

Pay

$190,000 — $250,000 USD (base salary)
