About the job

Conduct computational biology research to assess biological risks from AI-enabled scientific capabilities and translate findings into safety evaluations, policy boundaries, and mitigations.

What you'll do

  • Develop and run original computational biology studies on biological capabilities, risks, and safeguards.
  • Assess biological feasibility and misuse risks by integrating model capabilities, literature, experimental findings, and expert input.
  • Collaborate on evaluations and red-teaming, and translate risk judgments into policy boundaries and mitigation requirements.

What they ask for

  • PhD or comparable experience in computational biology or a related quantitative biological discipline, with a record of original research.
  • Substantive experience assessing biological dual-use risks, including pathogen-, toxin-related, or other consequential misuse.
  • Experience applying biological expertise to AI safety, such as threat-model analysis, evaluation, red-teaming, or mitigation design.
  • Strong quantitative analysis and scientific programming skills; ability to run reproducible studies and investigate model outputs and biological data.

Nice to have

  • Experience connecting biological modeling or design to experimental validation, including workflows with LLMs, specialized models, agents, or laboratory automation.
  • Experience commissioning specialist research or coordinating external scientific collaborators.
