VP of Research

What you'll do

• Choose verification claims to pursue and define success criteria; lead and grow the research team.
• Direct RISE experiments, red-team cycles, and publication; uphold research rigor, including publishing negative results.
• Translate policy and customer requirements into testable claims and represent Lucid’s research externally.

What they ask for

• Track record leading research in security, systems, hardware, or cryptography, with published or deployed results.
• Experience managing researchers or engineers and setting team direction.
• Depth in at least one area: hardware roots of trust and TEEs, applied cryptography and proof systems, network measurement, or ML systems.
• Judgment about problem tractability and value; comfort with public, adversarial scrutiny.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with compute governance and AI verification literature; experience with arms-control, safeguards, or other high-assurance verification regimes.
• Experience with external research partners or grant funding; prior work at a startup or applied research lab; interest in AI safety.

Pay

$250K – $500K USD base salary
