About the job

A year-round paid fellowship in which fellows own and ship projects across software engineering, systems, applied AI, or research, with direct mentorship from Menlo engineers or researchers.

What you'll do

  • Own an end-to-end project, including problem definition, implementation, testing, and documentation.
  • Build and improve production work in areas such as developer tooling, model runtime and performance, automation, and reliability.
  • Debug issues across codebases and environments, and collaborate through code reviews and technical discussions.

What they ask for

  • Ability to read unfamiliar codebases and make safe, well-scoped changes.
  • Practical debugging skills, including isolating problems and validating fixes.
  • Understanding of software or hardware engineering basics, including testing, version control, and review.
  • High ownership and ability to work independently with fast feedback loops.

AI focus

Work may involve applied AI and research; the role also expects intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for using AI as a collaborator. Deep AI expertise is not required for every role.
