About the job

Build and maintain a shared imaging core that reconstructs ultrasound data into image series, with validated methods optimized for real-time and large-scale offline processing.

What you'll do

  • Develop and optimize reusable beamforming, clutter-filtering, and motion or displacement-estimation methods; evaluate learned methods against strong baselines.
  • Validate imaging pipelines with reproducible benchmarks, reference measurements, and regression tests, and report performance, uncertainty, and limitations.
  • Meet throughput, latency, compute, and memory targets, and use measured performance to inform device and acquisition requirements.

What they ask for

  • Strong signal-processing and computational-imaging fundamentals, with deep experience in at least one imaging or sensing modality.
  • Experience developing or materially improving reconstruction methods used by others.
  • Strong scientific Python skills and experience profiling and improving GPU performance and memory use for large datasets or high-rate data streams.
  • Experience designing and maintaining shared scientific software with clear interfaces, tests, and documentation.

Nice to have

  • Ultrasound or related wave-based imaging; prior experience with real-time reconstruction.
  • Learned reconstruction or denoising; wave-propagation simulation; C++ or custom GPU-kernel development; scientific Python productionization, including Bazel; experience using AI tools or agents for scientific software and pipeline optimization.

Pay

$185K – $260K (base salary)

Tools

Python, GPU, deep learning, C++, Bazel

AI focus

Explore learned methods, including deep learning, and integrate them when independent evaluation demonstrates improvement over strong baselines. AI tools or agents for scientific software and pipeline optimization are useful but not required.
