About the job
Develop and validate models that infer listening and communication states from multimodal wearable data to inform adaptive hearing assistance and audio technologies.
What you'll do
- Build machine learning and statistical models of listening and communication behavior using wearable data.
- Validate model outputs against hearing science measures and design data strategies, benchmarks, and metrics for sparse or ambiguous ground truth.
- Conduct human-subjects experiments, analyze results, and collaborate with researchers and engineers across disciplines.
What they ask for
- Currently pursuing or obtaining a PhD in machine learning, computer science, hearing science, auditory or cognitive neuroscience, or a related field.
- 2+ years of Python or similar-language experience for data analysis and modeling.
- 2+ years of doctoral-level statistical modeling and/or machine learning experience, including time-series or sequential data.
- Research experience in at least one area: multimodal behavioral data, speech perception, auditory attention, or conversational communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, wearable or egocentric sensor data, hearing-impaired populations, limited or ambiguous ground truth, or large high-dimensional datasets.
- Track record demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications; cross-functional teamwork experience.
