About the job

Conduct structural analysis for AR/VR product development, building and validating finite element models and completing a scoped analysis project from definition through final readout.

What you'll do

  • Build module-level finite element models to assess drop/shock, static-strength, and thermo-mechanical failure risks; check results with first-principles hand calculations.
  • Support correlation and validation of models against physical test data with the REL and DVE teams.
  • Own a scoped structural analysis project end to end and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

What they ask for

  • Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or similar; final-year BS candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Fundamental understanding of solid mechanics, strength of materials, and finite element analysis.
  • Coursework, research, or project exposure to FEA software such as HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, or ANSYS.
  • Proven analytical and communication skills; available for at least 12 consecutive weeks of full-time internship and intends to return to a degree program afterward.

Nice to have

  • Experience with explicit dynamics or drop/shock simulation, material modeling and testing, or thermo-mechanical analysis.
  • Python or MATLAB scripting for simulation automation and post-processing; prior consumer-electronics or similar hardware internship or research experience.

Pay

$7,313/month to $12,667/month (base salary)

Tools
