About the job

Own the Recognition Platform’s architecture and technical direction, evolving edge-to-cloud pipelines and decisioning systems that turn physical-world signals into real-time actions.

What you'll do

  • Lead platform architecture, RFCs, and roadmap sequencing across ingestion, identity resolution, decisioning, notifications, and operator tools.
  • Evolve scalable streaming pipelines and design real-time rules and decisioning, balancing deterministic logic with probabilistic signals.
  • Drive cross-team alignment and production quality, including privacy and consent models, SLOs, alerting, testing, and progressive rollouts.

What they ask for

  • 12+ years building and operating distributed, data-intensive production systems, including deep experience as a multi-service platform technical owner.
  • Proven cross-functional technical leadership aligning engineering teams on shared architecture.
  • Expert proficiency in a JVM language such as Java or Scala, and fluency in event-driven and service-oriented design using gRPC/protobuf, streaming, and relational data modeling.
  • Hands-on high-throughput ingestion pipeline design, including delivery semantics, idempotency, ordering, backpressure, and tail latency.

Nice to have

  • Experience with computer vision, biometric matching, or sensor-fusion systems; privacy- or biometric-regulated domains; IoT or edge computing; identity resolution; or hospitality and retail software.
  • Prior experience in a Uber-tech-lead, TL-of-TLs, or principal-adjacent scope.

Pay

$241,000 - $279,500 USD annually (base salary)

Tools

Scala, Java, gRPC/protobuf, TypeScript, React, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS

AI focus

Develops AI-native engineering workflows and uses AI-assisted engineering tools; works with probabilistic or model-driven signals and model testing.
