Principal Applied Researcher

What you'll do

• Lead research projects on AI for developers and collaborate with Microsoft and GitHub product teams.
• Create datasets from public code and Microsoft internal data; build and manage large-scale machine-learning experiments and models.
• Track research and product advances in AI for software engineering.

What they ask for

• Doctorate in a relevant field, or a master’s degree and 3+ years of related research experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related research experience, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Nice to have

• Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor, or participating in a top conference in a relevant research domain.
• 2+ years building machine-learning and AI for production; 3+ years developing and deploying live production systems or products across multiple product-cycle stages.

Pay

USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year (base salary); USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year (base salary)
