Education
M.S. or Ph.D. in controls, robotics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience building and deploying control systems for real physical hardware.

About the job

Designs and implements control algorithms, dynamic models, and testing systems that enable industrial robots to move precisely and safely.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and tune controls for joints, actuators, and whole-body robot motion; develop dynamic models and simulation infrastructure.
  • Analyze robot data, tune controllers on hardware, and test performance across the robot’s operating envelope.
  • Implement real-time controls with firmware engineers and collaborate across mechanical and electrical engineering.

What they ask for

  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying control systems for real physical systems.
  • Strong control theory foundation, including classical and modern methods and familiarity with nonlinear systems.
  • Experience building dynamic models and using simulation tools to inform and validate controller design.
  • Hands-on controller tuning and debugging on real hardware; proficiency in C/C++ or Rust for real-time implementation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with whole-body control, trajectory optimization, or model predictive control on legged or manipulator systems; familiarity with FOC or other motor control algorithms.
  • Exposure to functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508; experience with ROS2 or similar middleware.

Tools

PID, C/C++, Rust, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, Julia, LQR/MPC, ROS2

AI focus

Builds generalized physical AI by developing controls that translate high-level commands into precise, safe, coordinated robot motion.
