Experience
5+ years, or equivalent "hard tech" projects.

About the job

Designs and integrates tactile sensing systems and compliant sensor skins for robotic hands, grippers, and other contact-rich applications.

What you'll do

  • Design tactile sensor components, assemblies, and elastomer skins; own mechanical packaging and integration.
  • Build and test prototypes, perform mechanical analyses, and develop fixtures and plans to validate sensor performance and lifetime.
  • Support scalable manufacturing and collaborate with suppliers and electrical, firmware, controls, and ML teams.

What they ask for

  • 5+ years of experience (or equivalent "hard tech" projects) building complex electromechanical systems, sensors, or tactile/haptic devices.
  • Direct experience with at least one tactile sensing modality.
  • Hands-on elastomer experience, including casting, molding, surface treatments, and characterization.
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks, Catia, or similar CAD tools.

Nice to have

  • PhD or research experience in tactile/haptic sensing, soft robotics, or contact-rich manipulation.
  • Experience designing sensor characterization rigs and analyzing data.

Tools

SolidWorks, Catia, 3D printing, FEA, silicone, urethane, gels

AI focus

Collaborates with ML teams to translate raw tactile sensor signals into usable manipulation feedback; the role designs tactile sensing hardware for Physical AI.
