About the job

Designs and evaluates the autonomous vehicle safety-layer, refining motion plans and developing collision-avoidance maneuvers that meet safety requirements.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and test trajectory synthesis and selection algorithms for safety-critical behaviors.
  • Develop evasive maneuver planning with low-level control systems and evaluate perception inputs for safety-critical scenarios.
  • Build simulation and analysis tools, define safety and performance metrics, analyze vehicle data, and support testing and event root-cause analysis.

What they ask for

  • 3+ years developing motion-planning and collision-avoidance algorithms or components in an industrial setting.
  • Strong modern C++ programming skills, including C++17 or C++20, with emphasis on high-performance, reliable systems.
  • Experience with motion-planning concepts including trajectory generation, trajectory selection, prediction, collision detection, time-series processing, and data visualization.
  • Familiarity with dynamic collision modeling, convex set processing, state-machine logic, multi-rate decision-making, and Linux-based operating systems.

Nice to have

  • MS or PhD in Control Theory, Robotics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, vehicle dynamics, SQL, Python, Gitlab, Bazel, VSCode / CLion, or AV simulation tooling; relevant publications.

Pay
