$180K–$252K

Torrance, California, United States · Senior · Full-time · Posted Oct 20, 2026

About the job

Build and field-test firmware for ground control hardware used to operate drones, spanning microcontroller and embedded Linux platforms.

What you'll do

  • Develop firmware for ground control hardware and manage operator inputs, aircraft communications, telemetry, and video reception.
  • Own control-path latency and reliability and define aircraft-to-ground interface behavior, including during degraded links.
  • Bring up and debug hardware, write unit and integration tests, and support hardware-in-the-loop and field testing.

What they ask for

  • Strong embedded C, C++, or Rust experience in resource-constrained environments, including firmware shipped on real hardware.
  • Real-time firmware experience with interrupts, DMA, and timing budgets.
  • Hands-on board bring-up and hardware debugging.
  • Working knowledge of UART, SPI, I2C, USB, or Ethernet; track record of taking firmware to production with light direction and appropriate test discipline.

Nice to have

  • Embedded Linux, including Yocto or Buildroot; Linux networking and IP-based radio or datalink integration.
  • Embedded video pipelines, RC radio or ground controller firmware, product migration from microcontroller to embedded Linux, or flying FPV/RC drones.

Pay

$180,000 – $252,000 USD (base salary)
